This document contains presentations and posters of the AEROCOM workshop in ISPRA, Italy in March 2004. Contributions are bundled by topic:

  1. The General INFO section summarizes the AeroCom project, provides a summary of the Ispra 2004 workshop - including a picture of the attendees
  2. The AeroCom COMPARISONS section contains results from initial comparisons among aerosol modules of different models and comparisons of simulated aerosol properties to available measurements (for additional comparisons go to the POSTERS section)
  3. The DATA_Aerosol_Ground section contains presentations of aerosol measurements from the ground. This sections also contains summaries from the aerosol optical thickness (aot) workshop March 8-10, 2004 at DAVOS, Switzerland
  4. The DATA_Aerosol_Space section contains presentations of aerosol measurements from space with the new generation of more capable sensors (e.g. MODIS, MISR)
  5. The DATA_Hydrological_Cycle section introduces new data - including (cloud) data for planned investigations of the aerosol cloud interactions in global modeling
  6. The DATA_Emission_Sources section introduces AeroCom prescribed emission sources and provides additional background on selected emission choices
  7. The MODELING_Issues section focuses on new ideas and new concepts in aerosol component module developments
  8. The MODELING_Assimilations section presents efforts involving aerosol data assimilations in aerosol modeling
  9. The NEXT_Indirect_Effect section describes efforts to understand the aerosol impact on cloud and the hydrological cycle (and the associated impact on climate)
  10. The NEXT_IPCC section introduces various international efforts to better quantify (and thus reduce uncertainties) in aerosol (direct) forcing
  11. The POSTERS section provides a more detailed look on model differences in aerosol component modules in global modeling. In addition, this section gives an overview on available aerosol (optical depth) measurements from ground and space
